More than 35 Thames operators attended the first free Thames CPD Programme training on Thursday, 25 January 2024.
In collaboration with the Metropolitan River Police, the Thames Skills Academy hosted an Action Counters Terrorism (ACT) training session worth 5 CPD points.
“It is important that everyone plays their part in tackling terrorism. Your actions could save lives. That’s why Action Counters Terrorism (ACT) is encouraging communities to help police tackle terrorism and save lives by reporting suspicious behaviour and activity”, PC Charmaine Boswarva said.
During the training, PC Paul Jacobs from the Marine Policing Unit talked about how to be alert to the risk of terrorism on the river, including knowing what to look for and how to report suspicious activity, covering:
- Introduction to Counter Terrorism
- Recent Counter Terrorism activity in London and the UK
- Suspicious behaviour and hostile reconnaissance
- Suspect packages and improvised explosive devices
- Run Hide Tell & Marauding terror attacks
- Online presence and social media
