Princess Royal Training Award Recipient 2021

The City & Guilds Group have announced that the Thames Skills Academy has been recognised by the 2021 Princess Royal Training Awards.

As a not-for-profit organisation established to raise safety standards and improve skills for those working on and alongside the Thames, the rationale for the TSA's initiative to receive the award was its Riverside Personal Safety course, which provides an overview of the potential dangers of working on or near water and offers practical tips to stay safe. The programme was developed with Tideway LondonSeaRegs Training and London City Airport.

Katherine Riggs, Chief Executive of the TSA commented: "We are delighted to have been recognised as an award-winning training provider by the Princess Royal Training Awards and hope it will bring safety training for those working and living alongside the Thames and other inland waterways to an even wider audience – making the rivers safer."

Currently in the sixth year of the Princess Royal Training Awards, HRH The Princess Royal, President of City & Guilds, recognises and celebrates organisations across the United Kingdom which have demonstrated exceptional commitment to training and development.

Kirstie Donnelly MBE, Chief Executive of the City & Guilds Group said: "The last 18 months have caused disruption to the way most organisations operate which has led to major changes for all of us in how we live and work. Despite these challenges, it’s fantastic to see so many organisations’ continued commitment to training and development as well as the positive and life changing impact learning can have on people."
