Thames CPD Programme briefing meetings for all River Thames Companies

The Port of London Authority, Thames Skills Academy and Company of Watermen & Lightermen have introduced the first Port-wide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programme for all Masters in command of an Intra-port Commercial Vessel.  The prime objective is to improve safety on the Thames.  The Thames CPD Programme is currently voluntary; from 1st January 2024 it will become mandatory and will be regulated through the PLA General Directions.

The PLA, TSA and CWL are hosting a series of briefing meetings on the Thames CPD Programme for Companies who have Masters operating on the River Thames.  These are suitable for HR Managers and Training Managers. 

The meeting will cover:

• Requirements of the PLA’s GD
• What the Thames CPD Programme means for employers and employees and how it will work for your company, including capturing the training and development you do already
• Demonstration of the Thames CPD Website and App to enable your Masters to enrol and participate in the Thames CPD

The meetings take place at Watermen's Hall, 16 - 18 St-Mary-at-Hill, London, EC3R 8EF.  The next meetings are on:

Friday 23rd June: 10:00 – 11:30 and 13.30 – 15:00
