The Port of London Authority, Thames Skills Academy and Company of Lightermen & Watermen have introduced the first Port-wide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programme for all Masters in command of an Intra-port Commercial Vessel, whether newly qualified or with years of experience. The prime objective is to improve safety on the Thames. The Thames CPD Programme is currently voluntary; from 1st January 2024, it will be regulated through the PLA General Directions.
The TSA, CWL and PLA are hosting a briefing event on the Thames CPD Programme for Companies who have Masters operating on the River Thames. This event will be suitable for HR Managers and Training Managers.
The briefing event will cover:
- Presentation on the requirements of the PLA’s GD
- Presentation on the Thames CPD Programme and what it means for employers and employees
- Demonstration of the Thames CPD Website and App to enable Masters to enrol and participate in the Thames CPD.
The event takes place at Watermen's Hall, 16 - 18 St-Mary-at-Hill, London, EC3R 8EF on Thursday 30th March at 10:00 – 12:00. A sandwich lunch will be available afterwards until 13:00.
